At this stage of middle school, we continue to emphasize the importance of a holistic education that nurtures not only academic growth but also social and emotional development.

THE LJA WAY

At Laura Jeffrey Academy, we take pride in our unique approach to education, which goes beyond the traditional model of schooling. Our students are encouraged to think, dream, and do, leading to empowered scholars who continually find solutions, challenge stereotypes, and shatter glass ceilings. We believe in creating a safe and inclusive environment where students can openly discuss relevant topics and explore their role in the broader society.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education

In 7th grade, our focus remains on STEM education, stimulating an interest in learning and pursuing careers in STEM fields. Our STEM classes continue to incorporate strong science content, technology, and critical thinking skills. We aim not only to enhance academic proficiency but also to build competency and confidence in our scholars. Scientific literacy and the ability to analyze and interpret information remain core skills taught in our STEM classes (and embedded in all we do at LJA!).

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

As students progress through middle school, we recognize the importance of social and emotional development. In 7th grade, we continue to provide a supportive environment where students can explore their individuality, build meaningful relationships, and develop a strong sense of self. Our advisory programs focus on nurturing students' voices and self-identity, helping them navigate the complexities of adolescence with confidence.

COMMUNITY AND LEADERSHIP

At this stage, students have the opportunity to assume greater responsibility for their own education and personal growth. Through various programs and experiences, they strengthen their sense of belonging within the school community and gain a deeper understanding of their role in society. We encourage our 7th-grade scholars to become active participants in their own learning journey and to be thoughtful, conscientious citizens both within and beyond the classroom.
