“Teachers at LJA open their hearts and minds to inspiring kids to learn. I was pushed and encouraged to be my best self. The classes were hard but I know that it was exactly what I needed. Now I am starting college, something I’m not sure would have been possible without the support I received from LJA.” - Kayla L.
Laura Jeffrey Academy is partnering with Making Space Project with the Science Museum of Minnesota. As one of five schools within Minnesota, LJA will provide a space for our scholars to explore the world: experimenting, building, destroying, designing, nurturing and growing. During our first year of implementation LJA scholars and community members will utilize that space to free-form play. As the program progresses, LJA scholars and community will identify a project of interest that addresses the needs of our community. The Making Space Project will allow for scholars to be guided, not taught, by experts from many cultures and classes. Your donation will help us expand this partnership by providing technology-based tools and materials (e.g., 3D printers, Spheros, and Snap Circuits) and tactile materials scholars can authentically tinker and explore with (e.g., tinker toys, wheels, modeling clay legos, conductive thread)
